Located in a historic railway station building in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the law firm of Volterra, Goldberg & Jacobs provides legal services throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, including Bristol County, Norfolk County, Plymouth County and Barnstable County.
We operate a general litigation practice, with an emphasis on family law, elder law and estate planning, criminal defense and accident cases.
Family Law
In our family law practice, we provide legal representation in all types of domestic legal matters. We represent individual spouses in divorce cases, and we also offer the services of a certified divorce mediator for spouses who wish to dissolve their marriage in a more amicable and efficient manner via divorce mediation.
Our lawyers have advanced experience managing all the difficult conflicts that can arise during or after a divorce, including child custody disagreements, calculation of child support and alimony amounts, and division of marital property in high-asset divorces.
We handle paternity actions on behalf of unmarried parents who wish to collect child support or enforce visitation or custody rights. We also handle divorces on behalf of same-sex couples married after the 2003 Massachusetts Supreme Court decision in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health.
Our attorneys also represent former spouses in disputes over modifications to the divorce decree. We handle child support collections cases, adoptions and guardianships. We also write prenuptial agreements.
Elder Law and Estate Planning
In our estate planning practice, we write wills, trusts, living wills and other formal legal documents necessary to properly manage income during life and dispose of property after death. We also help elderly clients with Medicaid planning.
Criminal Defense
Our criminal law attorneys provide knowledgeable and aggressive representation for any criminal matter that will be heard in district courts — which are generally misdemeanors, including DUIs, assault and battery, traffic offenses and drug possession.
Accident Cases
Our personal injury lawyers focus on representing people who have suffered injury or property damage in a car accident. We also provide legal assistance for people injured in other types of accidents, such as slip and fall cases.
